The lure for shortcuts are very high also because the odds are in the favor of who benefit from you taking shortcuts ( think: lottery, casinos etc.) The more people take shortcuts, the more they benefit and they are willing to spend a LOT of money to tell a great story about what all you can get if you take this shortcut. Your hopes are that you'll hit it big with the $50 investment, but the odds are that you'll lose it. Then you look to make another similar investment. You may never hit it big. Might as well make the smart investment now and reap the rewards in time.
