Maybe analysis paralysis, being aware of and worrying about the possible risks etc. I think at the end of the day it's just about getting stuck in there, hard work & getting stuck in over being a genius and doing nothing?

Plus, in the real world the Krapdashians matter more than wordly events or education. This is driven by greed.

The thing is, we're all dumb to something. We're nothing but a small planet in a theoretically infinite universe. As a society, we're extremely pompous. Truth is, we don't know jack shit.

It's really not that complicated. Make a lot of money, marry a beautiful intelligent female, have kids die....by any means necessary. Breaking it down in a list like this is ironically remaining in the "sandbox" you mention. Nothing more than a page filler...psh

Just something to take note of: If you had been given the same opportunities as that one lucky person you speak of, do you think that you would have the same ambitious personality that you did when you were young? Or would you have taken it for granted like the rest of the "smart" people? Something that I have noticed in people is that ambition comes after one is faced with some sort of challenge that no one else has. Depending on the person, one would either give up in the face of the challenge, or one would overcome this challenge. So the result of people who grow up with amazing conditions don't learn how to work with the market until they fall down to a low level. At this point, the person wouldn't even be able to work his way back up again. My point, and the point I believe Raj was trying to make was that one must fail to learn and adapt. Those who haven't failed won't be able to make it that far.

Sorry if I repeated myself, and thank you for sharing that piece of information with us. You too, Raj.

I totally agree with you. Just because someone does not invent or contribute to an amazing invention does not mean that they are not smart. Take me for example: My highest grade completed in school was a second grade education, ( family issues). I slept in abandon buildings at the age of 11 through my teenage years. Had my own apartment at the age of 14, (to complicated to explain). Worked hard to complete my GED, (taught myself math with the little reading I had acquired). Recieved my GED, joined the Navy and several degrees later, became a teacher, I currently have several homes, nice cars, a great retirement and a good life, (not rich, but good). Was I brilliantly smart? No! I was able to adapt and take the bad opportunities and turn them into something positive. So when someone sits across from me and feels like telling me that my ideas are wrong, or less superior to theirs I like to say, "Yes, you are smart, but someone taught you how to read, write and problem-solve. I am smart, because I learned to adapt. And just imagine what I could have done with all the opportuties that you were given!"

This is my first visit to this blog. Would like to highlight something about success - one that also reiterates author's point above:
Talking about success mantras that work for people, I recommend the one highlighted by Jeff Bezos once - always make sure you have a number of iterations to work upon since working on a single construct will reduce your chances of getting lucky and may also leave you frustrated in the end.

Totally understand your point as well as the point Ticklemevodoo was making. I am not even suggesting that - that problem does not exist.

My point is that something can be done about it, otherwise this condition can serve as a good excuse for not getting that "something" done.

My $.02 of course.

Best,
Raj
