Wow, I actually think you just hit it. The whole time I’m thinking, what can I say, I’ve don’t know enough I don’t know anything there’s more to learn, and actually alot of things have become so obvious I wouldn’t even mention them , then people mention them and I think why are you mentioning THAT, it’s so obvious, then I feel reluctant to share, as whatever I want to say I think it’s probably obvious to everyone else so there’s no point sharing it. Most of the time it isn’t. which is something your article jsut made me realise,.

There could be many other reasons that you haven’t considered. Maybe they’ve tried sharing in the past, and no one was interested. Maybe they’re not aware of how smart you think they are. Maybe no one has asked them to open up. Or they could be introvert, and not as expressive to the degree you would be (or think they should be)

My final suggestion is that they ARE sharing, just not with you

Great way of putting it. Everyone is an expert at something just most people don't realize that they are an expert because what they know is thought of as common knowledge. If someone else doesn't know the same, they must be below the curve. This may be the cause of some self esteem and worth problems. An idea is to always find a non expert to bounce your thoughts and knowledge off of to see how far ahead you are and what you should be sharing.

Very interesting! Though I may not be up there at the smartest level, a stint in teaching did teach me this lesson – so yes people, share your knowledge, you’ll gain way more than you think by doing so too.
