Thank you Charlie.

Personal Branding is new or old depending on how we look at time. The name and concept came into focus via an article by Tom Peters in Fast Company Magazine in 1997.

In my opinion, personal brands have the same advantages like any other brands - higher premium, lower costs of sales and implied assurance.

Have a great week ahead.

Best,
Rajesh

This is a really interesting debate, and I wonder how recent a concept the idea of 'personal brand' is and why we maintain it. Looking at it from a human resources point of view, does our personal brand decide what jobs we get, help us in interviews or even set a glass ceiling for how far and how quickly we can progress at work. You can read more here - http://blogs.freshminds.co.uk/talent/?p=261 - I'd love your comments and opinions.

With thanks,
Charlie

Thank you Madhavi and Venkk.

Venkk, Since it is "your" personal brand, it can never be "independent" of you. You might get lucky and not want to do anything else to build your personal brand. But most people have to do "things" beyond accomplishments to build a good personal brand.

My $.02 of course.

Best,
Raj

Hi Rajesh

When I read your post for the first I agreed with this and might be true. There is another point-of-view. Although I have never thought of building my personal brand (and definitely not an expert), I believe one's personal brand it just evolves with him. It is ones accomplishments, thought leadership and passion which determine his personal brand. I'm not sure how personal brand can be independent of those?

regards
venkk
